1, 2, 3, GO! Bulgaria Launches LEAD-IN

On March 22, 2025, Teach For Bulgaria officially launched its iteration of the Erasmus+ Leadership Empowerment and Development for Inclusive Education (LEAD-IN) project by gathering an enthusiastic collective of educational leaders in Sofia.

More than 50 current and aspiring school leaders engaged in lectures, group work, and workshops on the purpose and nature of education, its dependency on public policy, and the extent to which one could navigate the contemporary landscape and practice inclusive leadership to make impactful change for students of every background.

During the four sessions, the educators engaged in discussions on the motive behind educating leadership and the impact education has on the economy. They debated the definition of schooling as a service, what constitutes its quality, the standardisation or democratisation of the sphere, and the extent to which the state is best involved in it.
Recognising the role government plays in shaping the contexts educators work in, the participants were introduced to a brief history of educational practices: from Plato through Charlemagne, all the way to John Dewey. Afterwards, they were tasked with analysing cases from around the world for the purpose of finding connections between education and other public policies.

Public policy goes hand in hand with economics—both state and personal. With LEAD-IN’s focus on equipping educators to empower children from social minorities, poverty and the role of school in escaping its cycle was a pivotal point of discussion. It underscored the importance of full, on-board staff and faculty community that cohesively enables students’ development.

“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together"

Gergana Efremova, LEAD-IN national project manager

She emphasised the tremendous value of social capital by engaging the group in reflecting upon themselves, the vast knowledge and experience gathered around them, and their future goals in the program.
